Invite the people who were there

Keep the voices, not just the pictures.

Gather everyone’s photos and voices from the dinner, the trip, the reunion, and hear the story behind every picture, in the words of the people who lived it.

Gathertell is a private app for families and events: share photos and videos into a shared album, record voice and video stories on each picture, and turn them into narrated films. Connect Google Photos and it imports only the photos you pick.

How it works

Two taps per memory. That’s the whole thing.

STEP 1

Add the photos

Bring photos and videos in from your phone or your Google Photos, or scan the pages of an old printed album.

STEP 2

Pass the phone around

One giant button. They talk about each photo. Two taps per memory: start, stop, saved.

STEP 3

Get the film

Every voice becomes a film, with their words and their name on screen, ready to share with the whole family.

No typing. No menus. Made for hands that didn’t grow up on phones.

The voice stays with the photo

A recording belongs to the picture, everywhere it goes.

Films with their name on screen

Every scene says who’s speaking.

When Grandma Rose narrates a photo, her name and relationship ride along on screen, the same bar the finished film burns in, in whichever style you pick. Years from now it’s unmistakably her.

Karaoke captions light the words up as they’re spoken, even on mute

Ask, and the answer is a story

Ask a question. Get a story back.

Send someone a gentle prompt, like “How did you two meet?”, and they answer in their own voice. It comes back as a little narrated card the whole family keeps. The prompts do the remembering, so no one has to think of what to say.

Ready-made prompts make the very first recording easy

The whole family, connected

Everyone finds their place.

People you record and people you tag are one shared roster. Link them into a simple family tree and each person’s relationship is worked out for whoever’s looking.

Relationship labels are computed per viewer, never guessed

One QR at the wedding

Put one code on every table.

Everyone’s photos and voices land in the same album, and the slideshow builds itself on the big screen, live, as the night goes on.

Questions

The things families ask us first.

Does everyone need an account?

No. You can share an album with a simple link. They tap it, listen, and add their voice, with no sign-up and no password to remember. The person who starts the album handles the setup, and can do that with their Google account in one tap; everyone else can just be handed the phone.

What if someone’s not good with phones?

That’s exactly who we built it for. The guided walkthrough shows one photo at a time with a single giant record button and oversized text. They tap once to start, talk, tap once to stop, and it saves. Two taps per memory, no menus to get lost in.

Who can see our photos?

Only the people you invite. Albums are private by default, and each person you add gets a plain-language role, from “can look and listen” up to full control, that you can change at any time.

Do you use face recognition?

No. The app can notice that there’s a face in a photo and count how many, but it never guesses who anyone is. Every name comes from you. That keeps the whole thing private and clear of biometric-identity concerns.

Can we get our memories out?

Your photos and recordings are yours. You can turn any album into a film, with everyone’s names on screen, to share with the whole family, and nothing you capture is ever locked behind a paywall.

What does it cost?

Starting your family’s archive is free: 5 GB of photos and voice recordings (room for thousands of memories), sharing, and films with names on screen. A paid Plus tier with extra finishing touches is coming later, and we’ll always tell you before you’re asked to pay.

Years from now, you’ll still hear this day in their own voices.
